The 2007 ESA European Sponsorship Awards short list has been announced, with campaigns entered in all areas covering sport, culture, entertainment, media and corporate social responsibility.
The short listed companies include BT, who are named twice in the Business to Community category for their BT Community Connections project and their Innovative Arts Sponsorship project. Cosmote Mobile Telecommunications of Greece, is named in the Business to Consumer category for its Euroleague Basketball Final Four Championship project, and Vattenfall of Sweden is named in the International category for its Combat Climate Change project.
The Awards are held under the patronage of Commissioner Ján Figel, Member of the European Commission, responsible for Education, Training, Culture and Youth and are run this year in a new format with a downloadable entry form and a judging process which allows sponsors, rights holders and agencies across Europe to compete directly against each other.
ESA's Vice Chairman and Awards Chair Helen Day was impressed by the breadth of entries and high calibre of campaigns put forward. "With entries coming from six different countries", she said, " it really has been an amazing opportunity for companies to showcase their best sponsorship campaigns competing directly against each other on a European stage."
Winners of each category and the ultimate accolade The 2007 ESA European Sponsorship Award will be presented at an Awards Ceremony in Brussels to be held at the Vaudeville Theatre on the 8th November as part of ESA's two day Future Sponsorship Conference.
