Saga Insurance supports RHS Chelsea Flower Show in first major move into sponsorship

Saga Insurance is the new sponsor of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The 2006 show will run later this month, opening on the 23rd and running until the 27th.

The sponsorship will enable the RHS, Britain's leading gardening charity, to fund its work to help gardeners and advance horticulture through its gardens, events, education programmes and scientific research. The new relationship will provide opportunities for Saga, perhaps best known for its holidays, to build on awareness of its insurance services, already the preferred choice of some two million customers.

Andrew Goodsell, Saga’s Chief Executive, was excited by the company's first move into large scale sponsorship. ”I'm delighted to be supporting the world's most famous flower show", he commented. "We know that many of our customers enjoy their gardens and have a passion for gardening and we’re sure they’ll be as delighted as we are at our involvement in the Chelsea Flower Show.

"This is Saga’s first major sponsorship and represents a new phase in our long-standing relationship with the RHS. We have supported many RHS events and projects in the past, and we already offer gardening-related holidays to RHS members. We’re very excited about this opportunity.”

Andrew Colquhoun, Director General, RHS, said, “We’re particularly pleased to welcome Saga as the new sponsor of the Chelsea Flower Show. There is a close correlation between our audiences, and we share an ethos of championing excellence and helping people make the most of their interests. As a charity, we depend entirely on the support from members, visitors and donors, so sponsorship is an important source of income which will enable us to develop more and better ways to help people and communities enjoy gardens and gardening.”
