Topman joins NME party with sponsorship of New Music Tour

Iconic music magazine NME has announced a new partnership with leading men's fashion retailer Topman for its prestigious annual New Music Tour.

The Topman NME New Music Tour showcases the best up-and-coming talent and is set to hit twelve UK cities this spring, kicking off at Cardiff Coal Exchange on May 17th.

Topman marketing director Jason Griffiths says: "It's great to be on board as sponsors with such a great tour. Like the NME, Topman has always strived to nurture young and emerging talent - it makes perfect sense for us to be involved and it goes without saying - music and fashion have always gone hand in hand. This year's line up has such a buzz about it - the gigs will no doubt be sell outs!"

Headlining the now infamous rock 'n' roll party are Devon four-piece The Rumble Strips, closely supported by Pull Tiger Tail, The Little Ones and Blood Red Shoes, in a varied line up which looks set to cause musical mayhem!

The annual outing has previously launched the likes of Maximo Park, The Zutons and The Ordinary Boys. Last year it was the launch pad for then unsigned The Long Blondes, who went on to be signed to legendary Rough Trade records - the label that brought the world the Smiths, the Strokes and the Libertines.

NME editor Conor McNicholas says: "It's testament to how exciting the indie scene continues to be that this year's New Music Tour boasts such an eclectic line-up. No two bands on the bill sound the same but - whether it's The Little Ones' sunshine harmonies, Blood Red Shoes' punk clatter, the neon rock of Pull Tiger Tail, or The Rumble Strips' guitar-soul - each one is a must-see."

Hotly tipped rockers The Rumble Strips, who release their next single Motorcycle in June, are keen to take their music to a wider UK audience. Frontman Charlie Waller is raring to go: "I can't wait; it's going to be brilliant! To be asked to play this tour is a real honour - particularly when you look at the bands that have played in previous years."
