Kinofilm seeks sponsors for first
Manchester International Film Festival

Kinofilm is looking for sponsors for its brand new, revamped festival, the first biennial Manchester International Film Festival, slated to commence in October 2007.

There are many opportunities for sponsors to become associated with the new festival including Title sponsorship, for which Kino is looking to attract a major new media sponsor.

The new festival will combine an eclectic mix of features, shorts, animation, experimental and documentary works and will showcase exclusive premières from outstanding new talent. As well as promising to bring a feast of international independent cinema to the city of Manchester, the festival will provide a much-needed platform for talented filmmakers from the UK, many of whom have succeeded in making the transition from shorts to features.

The Manchester International Film Festival will champion original, low budget and independent new features, and will include retrospectives of such directors as Lynne Ramsay (Rat Catcher), Damien O' Donnell (East is East) and Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers) who gained important early exposure through Kinofilm.

During a decade of celebrating short film, Kinofilm has built a reputation as the most diverse and challenging short film festival in the UK.

Festival Director John Wojowski puts the festival plans in context: "We've been producing the Manchester International Short Film Festival for ten years and we've been considering reshaping things for some time. That time is now and Kinofilm is ready to rise to this new challenge. The addition of features to our repertoire and the launch of this new festival lifts our work onto a new and highly coveted platform. Kinofilm is well placed to host the new festival and it's a very logical step in our development."

Kinofilm Shorts will continue to flourish as a strand within the Manchester International Film Festival, featuring innovative new shorts in all categories, including Kino Extreme, Horror, Underground, Drama, Fantasy, Romance, Animation, Experimental and the hugely popular new Comedy strand.

The new festival will of course create opportunities to build relationships with corporate and cultural partners. Kinofilm stress that they are open to suggestions from potential sponsors and welcome enquiries from media companies involved in the film and television sector or indeed from companies wishing to make links into the industry and the opportunities it offers for marketing to the festival's target audience.
