EUROPEAN FEDERATION OF SEA ANGLERS
The EFSA was formed in 1961 by a group of international anglers who were taking part in a fishing festival being held out of Looe in England. Within three months of its formation, no less than sixteen countries were represented in the federation, either by formation of member sections or by the affiliation of existing clubs. In 1962, the federation joined the International Game Fish Association and has been in membership continuously since that date. One of the functions of the federation is to stage the European Sea Angling Championships. These championships have been held annually since 1962 and are held in a different country each year. Host countries have included Gibraltar, Scotland, Iceland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, England, Holland and Wales. In addition to the European Championships, a European Tope Festival and a European Cod Festival are held each year, with the more recent addition of the European Game Championships and Shore Championships. A range of sponsorship opportunities is available. Contact: David Proudfoot, Chair Organising Committee. Address: 3 Bardnaclavan Place, Janetstown, Thurso KW14 7XG. Tel.: 01847 895810.
