Brit Insurance Holdings plc, the UK-domiciled international general insurer and reinsurer, has strengthened its links with English cricket by becoming the Official Insurance Partner of English Test Match grounds in a four-year sponsorship deal.
The package gives Brit Insurance the right to perimeter branding and tri-vision advertising at Test Matches and One-Day Internationals until the end of the 2010 domestic season. The Test Match grounds included within the deal are Headingley, Edgbaston, Old Trafford, Trent Bridge and Chester-le-Street. In addition the company will continue to benefit from a substantial presence at The Brit Insurance Oval through its naming rights deal with the ground.
Mark Jones, Group Marketing Director of Brit Insurance Holdings plc, commented: 'This new agreement will substantially increase Brit Insurance's brand awareness during the course of the domestic and international season.
'Over the past three years, our branding of the Brit Insurance Oval has generated substantial return on investment, principally through televised Tests and One Day International matches, and this new deal will extend that visibility throughout the course of the season.
'Brit Insurance has a substantial network of regional offices throughout the country and our Test Match Ground partnership will provide a valuable platform for us to engage our business partners around the country.
'Since becoming club and ground sponsor of Surrey CCC in 2004, cricket sponsorship has proved a valuable marketing tool for the Brit Insurance brand. This increased activity will be a key element of our sponsorship strategy as we look to strengthen our position as one of the UK's leading insurance brands.'
Commenting on behalf of the Test Match Grounds, Nick Hoyle, Frontiers Group Sales Director, enthused: 'We are delighted to welcome Brit Insurance into our family of partners and look forward to building a very successful relationship over the next four years.'
The sponsorship agreement was brokered by WSM and Frontiers Group UK. It runs concurrently with the group's ongoing sponsorship of Surrey County Cricket Club and the Brit Insurance Oval - a deal recently extended to the end of 2010 which will include the 2009 Ashes Tour.
In addition, Brit Insurance's sponsorship portfolio includes a series of National Hunt Novice's Hurdle races, culminating in the Brit Insurance Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
