Skandia Cowes Week gets sponsorship support for Ladies Day from Liz Earle

The organisers of Skandia Cowes Week (2nd-9th August) have announced that Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare, the regatta's Official Skincare Sponsor, is also sponsoring the third annual Ladies Day, taking place this year on Thursday, 7th August.

Founded in 1995 by Liz Earle and Kim Buckland, Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare is Britain's largest independent beauty brand. Originally the founders made Naturally Active Skincare for themselves, wanting a botanically-based skincare range that delivered outstanding results. Nowadatys the range is a worldwide phenomenon, with customers in eight-two countries around the world.

Highlight

Liz Earle Ladies Day is intended to celebrate the achievements and contribution of women in sailing, from those who have overcome difficulties in order to succeed to those who have undertaken remarkable challenges. The highlight of the Day will be the champagne reception when the coveted Ladies Day Trophy will be awarded by Dame Ellen MacArthur.

In 2006 it was fitting that the late Betty Moore should become the first recipient of the Ladies Day Trophy. Aged 88 and having sailed in Cowes Week every year since 1947, she provided the finest example of a woman making a remarkable contribution to sailing.

Last year, the trophy went to Gavia Wilkinson-Cox in recognition of her sailing achievements in the Dragon class and, more importantly, for her pro-active work heading the Sail for Gold Campaign, raising funds and awareness for the sailors of the British Olympic and Paralympic Teams since the 1990s.

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2008 Liz Earle Ladies Day Award.
