Forward-thinking Boldmere St. Michaels FC posts call for backing from sponsors
Boldmere St. Michaels FC, nicknamed 'The Mikes', was formed in 1883 as a youth team. After growing up together, the team members decided they wanted to continue playing together, so ventured into open age leagues. Around the time of the Second World War, Boldmere had emerged as one of the leading amateur clubs and even won the Verviers Trophy hosted in Belgium. After a sustained period of success at amateur level, the club progressed into the semi-professional game and this marked a distinct upward step in terms of opposition. The club took a while to adapt to the new competition; but, as it started to find its feet, it was devastated by a fire which almost put it out of business. In the late 1980s, Boldmere St. Michaels were regular winners of leagues and cups. In 1994/5, the club was a founder member of the Midland Football Alliance, step 5 of the non-league pyramid. The club has really benefited from the increased media coverage and interest surrounding its 125th anniversary season in 2008/9. Sponsorship opportunities are available in connection with the First Team, Reserves, Youth Team and Under 17s sides, while the club also has a network of junior sides. Advertising at the club is available through its brand new, custom designed website (launched summer 2008), pitchside perimeter boarding, match-day programme and events. There are also numerous other opportunities available upon request. Boldmere St. Michaels is a forward-thinking club which enjoys excellent working relationships with local press media, who will help announce sponsorship dealings. The club has strong links with local schools through their Half Time School Cup, which raises money for P.E. departments and has developed strong ties with Sutton Coldfield College. 'The Mikes' work closely with their sponsor and advertisers. They believe in making regular contact, keeping all concerned informed of their on-field fortunes and exciting off-field events and developments.
