British Longboard Union has glad tidings for sponsors looking to make waves
The BLU has been in existence since 1994 and throughout this period has relied on a combination of sponsorship and entry fee to hold a series of five competitions each year to decide the winner of each division at the final event.
These competitions are predominantly held in the south west of England, though venues have taken place in the north east, Wales and the Channel Islands.
These are proven events attracting some of the best long boarders the UK has to offer. Competitors, such as Ben Skinner, Sam Bleakley, Chris Griffiths and Eliot Dudley are of European and International standard, with Ben Skinner being the European Champion (2007) and second placed finisher in the ISA World Surfing Games 2006.
The competitions allow any aspiring surfer the opportunity to compete against the best in the UK, indeed Europe, which provides great motivation for young surfers. There is no seeding for positions based on past performance. Divisions include Juniors (male and female), Ladies, Masters (40 years +) and Open. The BLU has a website (www.british-longboard-union.co.uk> which it uses to inform interested parties, competitors and other interested parties of events, results, points standings, etc.
The BLU is looking for sponsorship to fund the 2008 round of competitions and would welcome interest from sponsors for support at any appropriate level. The sponsorship levels available are Sole sponsorship of the entire 2008 series Sole sponsorship of an event(s) Co-sponsor of the whole 2008 series. In return, the BLU will provide exposure for the sponsoring company via links on the website the erection of promotional items or equipment provided by the sponsor at the selected event(s) hand out of provided promotional clothing, etc. to competitors Any prizes that the sponsor may wish to award.
