Ocean Youth Trust South sets sail on course to attract sponsorship
Ocean Youth Trust South is a registered educational charity (no. 1079959) which offers adventure sail training to young people aged 12-25 on board the 72-foot yacht John Laing. The organisation gives young crew members the chance to overcome personal challenges and achieve things they would never have believed themselves capable of doing. They would like to hear from sponsors who are interested in being associated with their work in one of three ways: 1. Major sponsors are sought to help replace John Laing with an exciting modern vessel that should set the standard for sail training yachts for years to come. Naming rights and other sponsorship benefits are available - there is a £1.4 million appeal. 2. Sponsorship is also sought in connection with the vessel's maintenance and refit (there is an annual £60,000 appeal). 3. Bursary funding for deserving and disadvantaged young people who cannot otherwise afford to sail is also sought. Costs are as follows: £325 per person for a five night voyage; £3,900 for a full group of twelve young people. The charity is seeking support currently for groups including siblings of life-limited children in local hospices; for a Portsmouth-based teenage sea shanty group to sail to a festival and perform there; for young carers, homeless teenagers and victims of bullying or abuse; and also for people with physical or learning difficulties. Adult sailing, corporate days, client days and marketing opportunities are available to sponsors.
