THERE'S BOTH RHYME AND REASON FOR SPONSORS TO SUPPORT POET MUSARAT
|
Musarat Ahmed is a published poet from the heart of East London. She is a mother and an active member of the local community. She began penning her poetry in her early life, but didn't devote herself to poetry entirely until she was published in 1998 in the Poetry Guild's anthology, 'Parchment,Quill and Verse'. She continued to have her poetry portrayed in a number of national anthologies: 'Rhyme and Reason' (2003, United Press Ltd.), 'In This Life' (2004, United Press Ltd.), 'One Moment In Time' (2004, Spotlight Poets) and 'Take a Look Around' (2005, Anchor Books). She began to gain the admiration of her peers through these brief but memorable works, and it was in 2004 that her first independent creation, ' Essence of Thought', was published (United Press Ltd.) to much critical admiration. The success of her first works encouraged her to pen a poetic follow-up to its predecessor. It was called 'Glimmer of Hope' (United Press Ltd.) and was published in Spring 2005. To name but one of her awards, she received a commendation for the third place she received in her ardent support of the London 2012 Olympics bid, which was in 2005. She has proved herself as being one of the author society's most prolific members, as can be witnessed by the fact that both her current works are being translated and are to be reproduced in their entirety across the five tongues of the Indian continent. Musarat grew up in the suburbs of West Yorkshire. It was during this time that she took to her heart her mother's optimistic outlook on life. She now resides in the heart of East London, which is deemed by general consensus the single most multicultural area in all of Europe. The ever-present themes in her most prominent poetry are to do with the plight of humanity, nature at its best and worst, and world peace. Her main influences and inspirations come from a multitude of different cultures and her poetry displays this unity of ideas and beliefs, which in East London range from Christian to Zoroastrian. Her current literary project is a written biography of her late mother.
