Brake, the national road safety charity, is seeking a headline sponsor for its annual flagship event, Road Safety Week, which takes place each November. Direct Line and Green Flag Motoring Assistance have already been confirmed as Road Safety Week headline sponsors for 2006 and Brake is currently seeking two more sponsors to join Green Flag Motoring Assistance and Direct Line as headline sponsors in 2007. This carries extensive PR and marketing benefits for all sponsors, owing to the size of the event and the coverage Brake traditionally achieves. Road Safety Week is a national, educational event that aims to raise awareness about road safety. It provides a platform for schools, companies, communities and road safety professionals to run local initiatives to help tackle causes of death and injury on the roads in their area. In the run-up to Road Safety Week, Brake provides information, resources and support to anyone that wants to get involved and help spread the road safety message. During Road Safety Week, Brake carries out media launches around the UK to generate coverage for a particular road safety topic. Brake generated an estimated £2,161,423 worth of media coverage in 2005, achieving extensive coverage in national and regional TV programmes, radio stations and newspapers. Brake will be distributing literature and resources to schools companies, community groups and professionals. Brake also runs a Road Safety Week website, www.roadsafetyweek.org.uk, which provides information on the main topic and how to get involved. Road safety banners will be displayed in cities and town centres across the UK to raise awareness of the Week. Media launches will be held in thirteen key media regions. As well as headline sponsors, Brake is also looking for companies that would like to sponsor banners and other resources to promote the event and raise awareness about road safety.
