September 2007 sees the departure of two highly modified amphibious Land Rover Defenders from Cape Town, South Africa. The vehicles will cover 50,000 miles travelling through thirty-three countries before reaching their destination of Cape Horn, Chile. The journey itself will be a world first and the coveted "First Complete Crossing of the Bering Strait" will be the jewel in the crown. The Bering Strait captures the imagination of the public and is guaranteed considerable media coverage here in the U.K and in Russia and the U.S. The Land Rover already attracts attention whenever it makes an appearance and has appeared in both news and feature articles in many newspapers and magazines and also on BBC television. Interest in the vehicles and the expedition will continue long after the event. The political and cultural diversity of the expedition makes it an ideal platform for a new product launch or re-launch in all business sectors; financial, leisure and automotive and surviving the extremes from +50ºC to -50ºC would prove the durability of any product in the retail industry. The expedition's team will be happy to discuss sponsors' requirements and tailor packages to suit their needs. Sponsorship opportunities are unlimited, say the organisers, and include:
"Brand" Cape to Cape vehicle livery
Participation for the sponsor or a nominee in the expedition
Fund raising for a nominated charity
Flotation devices in corporate colours and logo
Multi aspect logo display
Use of sponsor's images in publicity material
