THIS COMPANY IS CRAWLING WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO HELP FIRST TIME WRITERS
|
Cheeky Maggot Productions is a London based production company. Established in 2002, its aim is to nurture new writing talent for stage and screen. Its work involves developing the output of first time writers.
The organisation targets writers who come from minority groups, as well as those who deal with topics that are not in mainstream theatre and film at present. Cheeky Maggot also promotes first time directors, actors and technicians, providing work experience opportunities.
They are a not-for-profit organisation and their need is for sponsorship to allow them to continue their work with new talent. Through industry contacts they have showcased work at The Hampstead Theatre and The Soho Theatre and won Best New Writer at The Lost Festival last year.
Cheeky Maggot would offer in exchange prominent advertising on all their material and their website. They see this as an opportunity to support the talent of tomorrow and to help them raise awareness on certain issues. They have works that deal with the justice system, homophobia, HIV, self-harm and gender identity. They also mix this with light-hearted, less issue-based works to allow for a balanced programme of events.
