CHRIST'S HOSPITAL BANGS THE DRUM FOR BACKING FOR ITS BAND
Christ's Hospital is looking for a generous benefactor to help sponsor the cost of two new tenor drums for use in their famous marching band. The band has played at major events like the Lord Mayor's Show, at Lords Cricket Ground and at the Queen's Jubilee. Any donator of £800 (the cost to buy a new drum) could have their name and an emblem painted on the drum and visit the tenor drummers themselves at Band Parade, which takes place every day at the school (situated near Horsham, West Sussex). Christ's Hospital is the oldest boarding school in England and is a charitable foundation, with over 40% of all students paying nothing. The school numbers many famous persons amongst its alumni, including Samuel Taylor Coleridge (poet) and Barnes Wallis (designer of the bouncing bomb used in the dambusters raid in World War II). Sponsorship would help the tennor drummers secure their future in the band.
