CAPITAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR SPONSORS OF FILM LONDON
In April 2004, Film London was launched to coordinate, promote and encourage film production in the capital and has gained enormous support from the film industry at large.
Film London was set up by the UK Film Council and the London Development Agency. It is the capital's film agency, to promote and develop London as a major international film-making and film cultural centre and to help the growth of all the screen industries based in London - film, television, video, commercials and new interactive media.
Film London has supported almost 200 films, more than 160 commercials and videos and over 350 TV programmes. The intimate relationship London’s agency shares with the industry at the production level and beyond is evident in the high profile productions Film London has assisted, including Brit flicks such as Closer, starring Julia Roberts and Jude Law, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Layer Cake, Enduring Love, Batman Begins and major TV drama series, including Spooks and Hustle.
Film London offers a number of high profile sponsorship opportunities for partners including the Film London Business Partners Scheme. This scheme is a network of organisations, agencies and locations that work closely with the agency and which are supported through all its marketing activities, as well as via extensive branding and promotional activity at international film events, from the Cannes Film Festival to the UK British Showcase in Los Angeles. Film London works with its sponsors to promote their business potential to the film production industry.
The agency's other sponsorship opportunities include the London UK Film Focus 2005. This year’s inaugural three day export event to celebrate and promote British film and talent to an international audience had a strong contingent of 168 international film buyers, distributors and festivals, garnering a huge amount of national and international press interest. 2005 will see the capital’s long awaited celebration of children’s cinema, The London Children’s Film Festival. This festival will provide the capital’s 1.62 million children under the age of 18 with an opportunity to interact with film, London-wide. The festival will be run by a partnership of the Barbican and the Independent Cinema Office (ICO).
