SPONSORS' SUPPORT COULD PROJECT HEALTHY FUTURE FOR RHOSERCHAN
Rhoserchan was established as a charity in 1985 and opened its doors to its first residents in 1988. Rhoserchan is a twelve bedded registered care home for substance misusers. It currently offers a 12-week, highly structured programme of group therapy, one-to-one counselling and assignment work which helps give the residents insight into their emotions and how these relate to their addictive behaviours.
Rhoserchan has embarked upon a plan to increase the first stage rehabilitation services it offers. The management of the organisation has taken this decision because it needs to re-locate. This has become not only necessary, but urgent. The charity owns the buildings where it is currently based, but not the land on which they stand. The current lease expires in 2011. The buildings are timber framed and fast reaching the end of their useful lives. The landlord is unwilling to permit Rhoserchan to build alternative premises on the land.
It has therefore become necessary to find suitable alternative accommodation for the charity. Rhoserchan was established to provide a rehabilitation programme for people who cannot afford to pay their own fees. The majority of its clients have their fees paid by social services. Rhoserchan has always been reliant upon grant aid and donations and has never been self-financing. This constant reliance upon donations has made forward planning difficult and the future, at best uncertain and at times precarious. Relocation is therefore an opportunity for Rhoserchan both to expand the service it offers and become financially independent by increasing the number of clients it serves.
Support/sponsorship is sought for individual projects associated with the move as well as for the purchase of new premises.
