ZODIAC TAVERN THE MUSICAL COULD BE A STAR ATTRACTION
The show consists of four principle characters: Sid Sebastian (local layabout turned spiritual leader), Dan Bowley (Sid`s father, unknown to him till now), Zoe (the psychic who becomes Sid`s wife) and Erebus (a weak willed spirit).
Cameo roles are played by the principle characters: The Rapper, The Priest, The Pub Landlord, Rehab Attendant, TV Presenter, Vivien St-John (actress), Fergal Faulkner-Bore (author), Good Time Girl, Patty, Hitman, 1st Girl, American President, Indian President, Australian President and The Waiter - sixteen in all. The scene opens with Sid mocking eveyone involved in a psychic fayre booked at the tavern. He literally gets `spooked` by a spook, Erebus, who materialises through Zoe`s psychic crystal ball. Erebus hypnotises Sid to drink a magic potion in order to discover his inner self.
Erebus explains to Sid that, but for a mistake at birth (he was born 12 hours too soon under a weakened moon; his mother went into premature labour whilst crossing the road from the Co-op when the coalman's horse bolted off down the street). Through Erebus`s intervention, Sid finds his new psychic self, and finds it more fitting to drop the Sid part of his name and be known as just `Sebastian`. Erebus and Sebastian then meet up with Dan Bowley, the errant father of Sebastian. Dan was a big singing star in the 'Sixties, but drink and drugs led him down a slippery path. Dan manages to ressurect his career due to Sebastian`s influence, and Erebus offers his services as Dan`s agent.
A nationwide tour has been arranged, and is a sell out, whilst Sebastian starts to gain fame as a brilliant psychic and healer, and marries Zoe. The giddy heights of fame begin to tell on Dan and slowly but surely, he slips back into the world of drink and drugs. Dan's debauched ways lead him from one crisis to another, ending in both his and Sebastian's demise.
The show has thirty new songs ranging from rap to rock, ballads to jazz, and Cockney knees-up to light opera, with a little reggae thrown in for good measure.
