AWARDS FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS HOPE SPONSORS WILL TAKE UP THEIR THEME
Giving awards worth £55,000 per year to individual talented young musicians towards instrument or tuition costs is only part of what Awards for Young Musicians (AYM) does in trying to help them to achieve their potential.
AYM also aims to help families struggling to meet the costs of having a musically talented child by collaborating with other music organisations. The projects the organisation has devised provide opportunities for young people to, say, borrow a small-size or outstandingly good instrument; attend a specialist ensemble course; or participate in local masterclasses.
Sponsorship opportunities exist for all these projects, which are eminently “brand-able”. Involvement in supporting “excellence” in the community is something that potential sponsors would consider a valuable addition to their public perception, say AYM. Director Bridget Sime would be happy to talk to anyone interested in either providing awards for certain categories of instrument, eg “76 Trombones” (or fewer!); or learning more about our collaborative projects.
Patrons of AYM include Richard Baker, Nicholas Daniel, Sir John Drummond, Evelyn Glennie, Nigel Kennedy, Sir Jonathan Miller, Murray Perahia, Sir Simon Rattle and Marisa Robles. AYM has support from many leading trusts and foundations and from Allianz Cornhill Musical Insurance.
