SPONSORS CAN DEBATE MERITS OF SUPPORTING DURHAM UNION SOCIETY
The Durham Union Society is looking for sponsorship for debates and speakers.
This is an opportunity for sponsors to advertise in numerous Union Society publications sent out to over 3,000 members and thousands more prospective members each year. Founded in 1842, ten years after the university itself, the Durham Union Society has always been a major forum for debate within the university. The Union is the largest Durham society and has a proud tradition at the centre of Durham life, forged over the last 159 years. Since its foundation the Union has played a vital role in providing a central place for students from all colleges to meet. This role has become increasingly important since 1965 when it opened 24 North Bailey Club. The club contains a bar, beer garden, reading room, snooker room and guest rooms.
Sponsorship of the Union Society would give sponsors direct access to its members and also to other members of the University, depending on how the sponsorship program was structured. Other sponsorship opportunities include poster campaigns, advertisements in the Termcard, use of the Debating Chamber for recruiting purposes and placement of sponsor display stands in the Chamber.
