SPOTLIGHT ON SPONSORS, AT ARTS FOR LIFE VENUE
Arts for Life boasts a position as the UK's largest and longest free arts festival, running for thirty days as part of the world renowned Edinburgh Festivals. Based at the Ross Openair Theatre, sandwiched between Princes Street and the historic Edinburgh Castle, in West Princes Street Gardens, the venue is regarded as "one of the most beautiful and high profile performance spaces in the world" - Emmylou Harris, 2003.
The venue is transformed with an 18m dome stage that has an 11 sqm outdoor screen suspended from the roof, a bar, cafe, restaurant, and sponsors' areas. Running from 31st July to 29th August, 2004, the ten hour per day free programme will consist of mostly music (pop, classical, jazz/blues, world, acoustic) with a smattering of dance, theatre, comedy and performance art, bringing together new and established works from an international field. Interspersed with this free programme will be a selection of high profile ticketed concerts from some of the world's best known artists. The entire event is filmed with a full four-camera PPU that allows live pictures of the stage onto the large screen, a live transmission onto the Internet and cable/digital TV, and to a large screen in London.
Arts for Life give sponsors an opportunity to be involved in the largest arts and culture festival in the world at one of its highest profile and highest footfall venues (317,000 in 2003), allied to an exposure of around 1.5 million with television and internet broadcast of sponsors' products.
