CONSUMER CONSULTANCY OFFERS OPPORTUNITIES TO LIKE-MINDED SPONSORS
Consumer Consultancy is a UK social firm, constituted as a not-for-profit organisation that is managed by people who use mental health services. Its services have been developed in order to offer employment and educational opportunities to people with disabilities - and more particularly to people with mental health issues in their lives. It also seeks to reflect the wide diversity and viewpoints of people that have used mental health services - without making claim to represent them, unless it is mandated to do so directly by a specific group.
Consumer Consultancy is committed to ensuring that people with mental distress in their lives have access to the information and research efforts that affect them and their futures, and the organisation is involved with monitoring and evaluating both statutory and voluntary services. Its community development perspective requires members of the organisation to attend management meetings during the course of all monitoring and evaluation contracts. It is also committed to the promotion of self-help initiatives and to the teaching of recovery, as well as to the notion that policy development at all levels should involve, and then demonstrate, that it has heard the direct voice of those affected by the proposed policy.
When requested, the organisation will also help resource and otherwise support national campaigns that make a difference to the lives of people who experience, or have experienced, mental and emotional distress. Community Consultancy is funded by its local PCT and NHS Trust for some core costs but a sponsorship relationship would help it broaden its profile and activities.
