IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM OFFERS OPPORTUNITY TO REINFORCE SPONSORSHIP CAMPAIGNS
The Women And War Exhibition to be mounted at The Imperial War Museum in October 2003 will be the most ambitious of its kind ever staged, a major international exhibition which will explore the vital contribution made by women during times of conflict.

The stories of individual women will be told through films, photographs, posters, paintings, uniforms and personal memorabilia from the museum’s collection, and from major museums in the USA, China, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and many other countries.

The fashion elements of the exhibition will be extensive, and include items as diverse as the body armour worn by Princess Diana in Angola; the MASH uniform worn by Goldie Hawn; the green uniform gown of Catherine the Great; Amy Johnson’s flying jacket; Marlene Dietrich’s costume; and space suits worn by the first women in space. The exhibition will include an extremely high-profile opening, and a full programme of related activities, including an associated book by Kate Adie, educational and family events and a special film season.

The exhibition will be promoted extensively through poster campaigns on London Underground or London buses, a direct mail campaign, features in magazines and newspapers, sales promotions and web advertising. It is anticipated that the exhibition, which will run from early October, 2003 to the 18th April, 2004, will attract in excess of 200,000 visitors.
