Kicks 'N Clicks is a project launched by Our Kids Sports to provide low cost and no cost computers to junior and amateur sports organisations across the UK.
The Website is free to use and anyone can apply for the computers as stock becomes available. The site's aims are:
to provide cheap or free computers to those who need but can't afford;
to help to get more people in the UK "online"
to reduce the amount of redundant I.T. equipment going into landfill; and
to increase and support the use of Linux as an operating system in the UK.
The site provides:
basic computers with DOS, Linux or Microsoft operating systems;
free technical support via its "forum & support" area; and
low cost web development.
Kicks 'N Clicks hopes to receive about 300 computers a month, of which about 200 will be suitable for recycling. The machines are safety checked, have their drives formatted and checked to make sure ALL data is destroyed, and are then tested and have DOS, Linux or Microsoft Windows installed.
Sponsorship opportunities in connection with the service are now available.
