In short, the project aims to help and encourage young people to make a difference in the local community and achieve their own goals. The arts activities currently undertaken under the aegis of the project include such diverse activities as wildlife sculpture, skateboarding and a range of musical activities, including rock and pop workshops, DJ-ing and computer-based music development.
Amongst the organisations associated with CYC are YAF, Youth Arts Forum, which works with young people across north Yorkshire, developing youth arts programmes, events and festivals; Vibe, a new and innovative after schools project supported by the New Opportunities Fund; and Live and Loud, which provides music-making opportunities for children up to the age of 18 who mainly live in areas of social and economic need.
A wide range of sponsorship opportunities is available in connection with the project's youth arts festival.
