DISABILITIES TRUST HAS THE ABILITY TO HELP BUILD BRANDS
|
The Disabilities Trust is a leading national charity providing a range of high-quality care and support services for people with severe physical disability, acquired brain injury and autism.
The Trust offers a range of specialist accommodation, rehabilitation and personal support services, all of which are aimed at empowering each of its service users to live more fulfilling and independent lives.

One of the charity's major recent thrusts has been to help raise awareness of the needs of people with autism, a hugely complex disability which currently affects over 500,000 people in the UK. Most notably, it spearheaded Autism Awareness Year 2002, which brought together 800 organisations and individuals to form the largest ever movement for autism in the UK, helping to influence and inspire action to bring about changes needed to services and attitudes to autism. A successful series of events and initiatives took place throughout the Year, including a video, a new website, national and regional conferences and regular exchanges with parliamentarians and policy-makers.
The Trust now plans to produce a publication (estimated cost £3,500/£4,000) detailing the achievements of the Year and setting out a manifesto to campaign for better services and increased levels of funding. It also seeks to develop the website. Sponsorship is needed for these important resources, opening up significant branding opportunities. Other sponsorship opportunities (eg for various fundraising events and corporate conferences/receptions) and cause-related possibilities are available, which can be tailored to meet specific company objectives. In addition, the Trust will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2004 and would welcome the chance to discuss potential ‘charity of the year’ partnerships with companies. Please note that sponsorship of the Autism Awareness Year Report would be required by early 2003. Registered charity no.: 800797.
