Team Ted looks to rally advertising support for its mid-2013 Help for Heroes tour across Europe
The Help for Heroes 4x4 European Rally event starts on Saturday, 15th June, 2013 in north Wiltshire. After using byways on Salisbury Plain, Team Ted will then travel to Portsmouth to embark on the ferry over to France.
This 2,000 mile expedition will encompass seven European countries over a period of twelve days, concluding in Bavaria. A non-speed touring assembly, with an entry of forty-five teams, the event will be part military history tour, open to road-legal 4x4 vehicles.
"Our route moves south, to Bastogne in Belgium, then towards Germany. The rally routing is via the Alsace region of France and its Maginot Line fortifications; then on to Dachau.
"We end our journey at Hitler's 'impenetrable' Eagles' Nest at Berchtesgaden. The vehicle we are using is a Land Rover Defender 90 TDi (1992).
"We will be funding the actual event ourselves - ALL monies donated will go directly to the charity. Leading up to the event we will be visiting superstores in the North Yorkshire area and car boot sales, where we aim to raise funds; we will be selling items provided by the Help for Heroes charity, raising awareness and collecting donations.
"After we have taken part in the event all advertisements on the vehicle (provided by sponsors) will remain in situ for at least twelve months, during which time the vehicle will be used on a day-to-day basis in and around North Yorkshire.
"We are also attending at least four Land Rover shows, where we will be part of the inner circle at the showground, promoting the charity. These shows are in Driffield, East Yorkshire, Billing, Northamptonshire, the East of England Showground, Peterborough and Eastnor, Herefordshire".
