Becky's four year Expedition Equus is sure to stir up media interest worldwide
Becky Sampson and her pony Bertie's Quest are about to embark on the journey of a lifetime to raise money for charity.
Their adventure, Expedition Equus, is a four year horse ride from London to Tokyo, spanning two continents, fifteen countries and more than 15,000 kilometres. Becky believes she will be the first woman in history to undertake this incredible journey, and has already been heralded one of ten 'Great Modern Travellers'. Both horse and rider are going to visit villages built and run by SOS Children, the world's largest orphan charity, in support of whom Becky is undertaking the journey. She will take letters and pictures from schoolchildren in the UK, who are linking with SOS Children's villages en route. The adventure has been recognised by the expedition leader and travel writer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who says of the journey: "The true spirit of adventure lives on; Expedition Equus has set a great challenge and I wish them both luck and success". There has been great media interest, both nationally and internationally, and Becky has been requested interviews with media agencies throughout the ride. Filming for a documentary is already underway and a book and exhibition of photographs are planned upon completion. The expedition can be followed at www.expeditionequus.com, which currently receives over 1,000 hits a month.
