CCP sponsors videogame website Edge-Online's Free-To-Play Week
Edge – the multi-format videogame brand – has secured CCP Games as sponsor of its free-to-play week on Edge-Online.
From this week, CCP Games has taken over the whole site for seven days in the build-up to the F2P Summit which is due to take place in London on Wednesday, 26th September.
For the entire week www.edge-online.com will investigate gaming's fastest-growing business model, free-to-play gaming. From App Store success stories and the new breed of online PC games to the state of play on Facebook and the next generation of browser games, say the publishers, "Edge-Online will lift the lid on how and why free-to-play gaming has shaken up the industry".
Multi-format videogame magazine Edge, from Future Publishing, first appeared in 1993. Since launch, it was won the MCV award for Best Magazine Team and six Magazine Of The Year awards from InDin and the Games Media Awards.
Richard Keith, Publisher of Edge, said: "There's nothing more exciting right now in videogames than free-to-play. These dynamic models are changing the way games are made, marketed and played which is why Edge-Online has dedicated a whole week to explore what free-to-play means to the industry, and I'm delighted to have one of the leading players in the free-to-play market, CCP, onboard".
David Reid, Chief Marketing Officer of CCP Games, was equally upbeat: "CCP Games is proud to sponsor Edge-Online's free-to-play week. As developers of DUST 514, the PlayStation 3 exclusive free-to-play shooter, we recognise how quickly this new business model is growing in the western world. It's important that the industry address this growing trend".
Future sells 2.2 million magazines each month, attracting more than forty million monthly unique visitors to its websites. It delivers over 100 digital editions and bespoke apps on tablet. Future exports or syndicates publications to 89 countries, making it the UK's number one exporter and licensor of magazine content.
The company was named Consumer Digital Publisher of the Year for the second year running at the Association of Online Publishers Awards 2012.
