Scottish Hockey seals new sponsorship deal for Scottish schools
Scottish Hockey, the national governing body for hockey, has announced a new partnership agreement with Quilter Cheviot investment management to sponsor its Scottish Schools Open and S3 Cup and Plate competitions.
This support, from the Edinburgh and Glasgow based offices of the company, is the first ever significant investment by a commercial partner in the national school-age hockey competitions, and is designed to attract more schools to participate in the competitions and produce a finals day spectacle at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.
David Sweetman, Scottish Hockey Chief Executive, said: "Scottish Hockey is delighted to secure this partnership with Quilter Cheviot for the national school age hockey competitions.
"Increasing the number of schools and players participating in hockey events and competitions is a primary objective for the governing body and this investment will enhance our activities in this area.
"We also want to ensure that youth players are enjoying the experience of participating in hockey competitions so that they continue onto university and club hockey when they leave school.
"Therefore, we are looking forward to expanding the competition and creating more of a carnival spectacle for the competing teams and their supporters on the finals day at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre, the legacy venue from the Commonwealth Games, early next year".
Alan Aitchison, Quilter Cheviot, said: "It is important for us as a firm to support the youngsters in what they wish to achieve. We are proud to be supporting Scottish Hockey and we look forward to seeing how the teams progress throughout the season".
