Community Resilience UK launches voluntary sector exercise sponsorship
Community Resilience UK (CR) will be awarding £24,000 in sponsorship grants to seven regional Voluntary Sector exercises in 2014, following the success of last year's scheme.
Community Resilience UK is a not-for-profit community interest company, dedicated to helping individuals and communities to prepare for and recover from major emergencies. The 2014 sponsorship programme, says the company, is part of its continued commitment to the voluntary sector.
The new programme shares the aim of the company's 2013 programme: to encourage and demonstrate the capabilities of local voluntary organisations in helping to deliver a fully integrated response at Bronze operational level.
The sponsorship scheme for 2013 proved to be very successful, with CR sponsoring seven exercises in England and Wales. In 2014, exercise projects will be selected on a regional basis, and applications will be welcomed from all Local Resilience Forums (LRFs). CR's Regional Advisors will be contacting all LRFs in the coming weeks to invite applications.
To qualify, LRFs will need to submit a proposal setting out how they will deliver a specific, operational exercise. The proposal must engage local voluntary agencies and provide them with an opportunity to deploy their services and contribute fully to a realistic incident scenario. The application form can be downloaded from the CR website, under News & Reports. The deadline for completed application forms is March 2014.
The winners and their funding will be announced in April 2014.
