Hope sponsors Eroica Britannia cycling and family festival
Peak District cycling festival Eroica Britannia - dubbed the 'most handsome festival in the world' - has received a boost in the form of sponsorship from Hope Construction Materials, Britain's leading independent cement and concrete supplier.
The company, which operates the country's largest cement works in Hope Valley and the impressive Dowlow Quarry near Buxton, has confirmed its partnership with Eroica Britannia, a three-day cycling and family festival which returns to Bakewell from 19th to 21st June for a second year, after its huge success in 2014.
Hope Construction Materials joins a growing list of local and national companies - such as Buxton Water, Liberty of London and Lush - to sponsor the festival which is expected to attract more than 50,000 people this year.
The event has been hailed as "one of the best value family festivals in the UK", with camping, shopping and artisan food on offer, all for a £10 ticket charge for fun-packed three days, as well as the focus on "the world's most handsome bike ride", featuring classic and vintage bicycles on Sunday, 21st June. The ride has seen "phenomenal demand" for places, according to Cycling Weekly magazine, and acclaim in Esquire's Black Book as "The Best Ride".
Hope's sponsorship will be reinforced with five special Eroica Britannia-branded cement lorries which will promote the event throughout the UK, on route to delivering Hope cement to customers nationwide. In addition, the company is taking the opportunity to promote cycle safety through an educational show stand set up around a lorry, for the duration of the festival.
Hope's Industrial Director Ashley Bryan commented: "Having seen the massive success this event was last year, we were delighted to be able to become a new partner this year. We are passionate about supporting the communities around our operations, and about boosting the Peak District economy. We are also very keen to find ways to tell people about what we do. The opportunity to reach thousands of people with messages about cycle safety on the road is a real bonus. We will be offering cyclists at the event the opportunity to see and understand the importance of road safety, particularly when cycling near lorries.
"It's a real pleasure to be associated with such an exciting and unique event here in the Peak District."
Nick Cotton, from Eroica Britannia, said: "We're absolutely thrilled to partner with Hope Construction Materials and welcome them on board as a key event sponsor for 2015.
"Hope's values regarding road/cycling safety and awareness are important to us and we expect there will be a significant interest from our festival-goers in seeing the safety technology that's in-built to Hope's lorries".
