Yonex confirmed as first partner for historic Para-Badminton World Championships
Badminton England has announced that sports giant Yonex has been signed as the first Partner of the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships 2015.
Yonex will become the Official Sports Equipment Partner of the Championships, which will be hosted in England for the first time from 8th to 13th September in Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the birthplace of the Paralympic movement.
The partnership further cements the strong relationship that exists between the organisations after Yonex last year committed to remain as the title sponsor for the YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships until 2021.
Badminton England also recently agreed a multi-year deal with Yonex to be the Official Equipment Partner for the English National Championships Series and National Badminton League (NBL).
Badminton England's Chief Executive, Adrian Christy, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to extend our relationship with Yonex to become the Official Sports Equipment partner for the prestigious BWF Para-Badminton World Championships being held in England later this year.
"It is particularly exciting given that this is the first Para-Badminton World Championships to be held since the news that badminton will be part of the Paralympic programme from Tokyo 2020.
"Major events are a key part of Badminton England's strategy to grow participation as well as give our players the opportunity to perform in their own country and we hope these Championships will excite and inspire thousands of players with disabilities to play badminton. We simply could not host such events without the incredible support we get from Yonex".
Paul Jepson, Managing Director of Yonex UK said: "Our corporate mission is to contribute to society through sport, and this involvement in the BWF Para Badminton World Championships represents our commitment to this mission.
"As the world's leading badminton company we are delighted to invest in the development of this great sport at all levels of the game. We are especially proud that this includes supporting these Championships for the first time in England at the birthplace of the Paralympics."
