Gatwick Airport extends sponsorship of Brighton Dome and Festival
As a partner of Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival, Gatwick Airport is sponsoring the organisation's Family, International and Accessibility programmes this year.
Brighton Dome is a registered charity and offers a year-round programme of performing arts as well as the renowned Brighton Festival each May.
This year's Brighton Festival (6th - 28th May) is guest directed by the recording artist, poet, playwright, and novelist Kate Tempest. An accredited family airport, Gatwick has sponsored the organisation for the past three years and is committed to helping it make the arts accessible to a wider audience in the local community.
The Brighton Festival 2017 International and Family programmes offer a wide range of artistic performances, spanning music, theatre and dance which can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Brighton Dome's Accessibility programme ensures there is a range of assisted performances for adults and young people with access needs, including audio-described performances for blind and visually impaired people, sign language interpreted performances for deaf or partially hearing visitors as well as relaxed and multi-sensory performances for people with learning disabilities.
Alison Addy, Gatwick's Head of Community Engagement, commented: "We are delighted to sponsor these programmes, which bring so many families and young people together.
"Brighton Dome's work to celebrate international artists is very well recognised and we always strive to support them and their engagement with the local community".
"This sponsorship is also another example of Gatwick's wider commitment to supporting the community by addressing the social and environmental issues that matter to local people".
Andrew Comben, Chief Executive, Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival said: "We’re delighted that London Gatwick is sponsoring Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival again this year. It is thanks to our sponsors that we’re able to present the sheer number of quality performances, installations and exclusive talks that make up Brighton Festival.
"This year's Guest Director Kate Tempest is passionate about connecting the wider community with the arts, and Gatwick's support of the Festival's International and Family programmes - as well as year round accessibility at Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival - is crucial in ensuring we can continue to make Brighton Festival and the city itself such a magical place to be in May and year round".
