Skrill and Football Conference part company after just twelve months
The Football Conference and Skrill have mutually decided that the current title sponsorship by Skrill will not continue beyond the end of this current season.
The original contract, agreed in July 2013, was to cover sponsorship of the three Conference divisions over a three year period. Online payment company Skrill had replaced previous sponsors Blue Square.
A statement on the Conference website reads as follow:
"The Football Conference and Skrill have mutually decided that the current title sponsorship by Skrill will not continue beyond the end of this current season.
"Skrill has undergone a number of changes since the agreement was entered into and will be aligning any future sponsorship activity to its global strategy.
"The Football Conference has always enjoyed excellent relations with its previous title partners and, in the relatively short time it has worked with Skrill, has found the relationship to be a strong and beneficial one.
"It recognises that Skrill's long-term plans have changed and is grateful for the opportunity afforded to it to be associated with such an excellent brand.
"Both parties wish each other every success for the future.
"The Football Conference, having established itself as a leading participant in the world of football and found a far wider audience for its matches on a major television network, is now commencing the process of seeking tenders for a new title sponsor to commence in 2014/15".
