Sponsor EE powers Fanbots at the BAFTAS
EE, the leading UK digital communications company, gave two lucky film fans the chance to enjoy all the glitz of the 2014 BAFTA red carpet, without their ever having to leave their living rooms.
Rick Plant from Manchester and Emily Young from Buckinghamshire were beamed onto the EE Fanbots allowing them to chat to a host of film industry legends on the red carpet via superfast 4G.
Among the stars who stopped by for a chat were BAFTA winners Steve Coogan and Barkhad Abdi and BAFTA nominees Amy Adams and Ron Howard. Even Dame Helen Mirren herself, honoured on the night with the BAFTA Fellowship, said hello to the Fanbots.
EE Rising Star Award winner Will Poulter discussed how the EE Fanbots had inspired him to put his name forward for the next available robot movie and Tinie Tempah and Lily Allen chatted music with Mancunian film fan Rick's young niece who joined him on the sofa to enjoy all the red carpet action.
Other red carpet stars who engaged with the new technology included Michael Sheen, Colin Salmon, David Gandy, Luke Evans, Samantha Barks, Ruth Wilson, Stanley Tucci and Ben Miller.
Amy Adams speaks to the EE Fanbots on the red carpet ahead of the EE British Academy Film Awards.
EE operates the UK's first superfast 4G mobile and fibre broadband network, along with a range of film offers for its customers, including two for one cinema tickets every Wednesday, as well as access to the EE Film Store, which allows 4GEE customers to download and stream films on the go.
EE became Title Sponsor for the British Academy Film Awards in 2013.
