Meaty sponsorship for McFly and Little Mix
One of South Tyneside's longest running businesses has given its backing to a new summer concert being headlined by chart-topping boyband McFly and internationally renowned girl group Little Mix.
Dicksons, the family pork butchers, which has been supplying its own recipe meat products across the north east since 1953, has become a sponsor for Sound Waves 2013, which takes place at Bents Park, South Shields, this August bank holiday weekend.
The concert, organised by South Tyneside Council, is being co-headlined by McFly and Little Mix, with special appearances by fellow X Factor winner Joe McElderry, Britain's Got Talent finalists Luminites and boyband The Vamps.
Dicksons, which has twenty-two stores in the north east, including nine in South Tyneside, is sponsoring the event as part of its sixtieth anniversary celebrations.
Elena Dickson, Marketing Manager at Dicksons, said: "The people of South Tyneside have been great supporters of Dicksons over the past sixty years and this is our way of not only saying thank you but also of giving something back".
Sound Waves 2013, which takes place on August 25th, forms part of a wider programme of live music and family events running throughout South Tyneside this summer. Other highlights include the annual South Tyneside Summer Festival, which offers free entertainment and live music until the end of August.
Cllr Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council, said: "Sound Waves 2013 will be a wonderful event for South Tyneside. It is due to the support of Dicksons and the other sponsors that we are able to bring McFly and Little Mix, two of the world's best known bands, and other big name acts to the region. We are grateful to Dicksons for their sponsorship and wish them a very happy sixtieth anniversary".
