Orange maintains BAFTA Film Awards sponsorship for two years

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced that Orange has extended its sponsorship of the Film Awards for a further two years, into 2008 and 2009. Orange have already sponsored the event for ten years and both Orange and BAFTA say they are delighted to be continuing the partnership.

Amanda Berry, BAFTA’s Chief Executive, said “We are proud to be taking this sponsorship into its second decade. Such a long-term partnership is credit to Orange’s overall commitment to film, and we are delighted that our Awards are the annual cornerstone of this commitment.”

Hattie Magee, Head of Partnerships, Orange UK, was equally upbeat: “We are delighted to have extended our sponsorship with BAFTA. We are now more involved with the Film Awards than ever with initiatives such as the Orange Rising Star Award and the 60 Seconds of Fame short film competition, which launches into its second year later this month. We are already looking forward to next February and we are sure that the awards in 2008 will be bigger and better than ever.”

The nominations for the Orange British Academy Film Awards will be announced on Wednesday, 16th January and the ceremony will take place on Sunday, 10th February, 2008.

The Film Awards are the Academy’s highest film honours, rewarding the best work of any nationality seen on British cinema screens during the preceding year. Nominees and presenters attending this year's Awards ceremony in London included Dame Helen Mirren, Kate Winslet, Penélope Cruz, Forest Whitaker, Dame Judi Dench, Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniel Craig, Emily Blunt, Toni Collette, Paul Greengrass, Sienna Miller, Pedro Almodóvar, James McAvoy, Thandie Newton, Eva Green and Sir Ian McKellen.
