Siemens brings the Science Museum to two Nottingham schools
Siemens, a major employer in the UK and Nottingham, has brought a team of two 'science explainers' from the Science Museum Outreach Team to two schools in Nottingham. The move is part of the firm's three-year sponsorship of the Science Museum in London.

The science experts put on highly interactive and inspirational shows at Nottingham High School on March 21st and Greenwood Dale School on March 22nd. About 200 children from Key Stage 3 (aged 11- 13 years) attended the shows.

The shows were followed by an evening event for Siemens employees and their children, held at the Siemens Communications Office in Beeston, Nottingham.

During the shows, which are linked to the National Curriculum, the basic principles of materials science were explained and demonstrated in a highly entertaining way - focusing on the properties of solids, liquids and gases. The experiments involved audience participation, plenty of shocks and surprises, water, slime and even some green goo.

Siemens Communications is proud of its good relations with schools in the Nottingham community and supports a number of education initiatives, particularly promoting science. Arts & Business provided a grant to help fund these science shows as part of a series Siemens is running at twelve schools around the UK.
