Fashion talent awarded NEWGEN sponsorship for Spring/ Summer 2010

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has confirmed the names of seventeen fashion designer businesses that will receive BFC NEWGEN sponsorship, supported by Topshop, to show at London Fashion Week (LFW) in September 2009.

NEWGEN, established in 1993, has become one of the world’s most internationally recognised talent identification schemes. Its alumni includes many great British designers including Alexander McQueen, Matthew Williamson, Boudicca, Giles Deacon, Jonathan Saunders and more recently Christopher Kane, Marios Schwab, Richard Nicoll and Erdem.

This season’s recipients will be involved in the BFC’s 25th anniversary celebration (25 years of the British Fashion Council, London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Awards) and have been invited to exhibit, present or show their collections at London Fashion Week’s new home – the Georgian landmark palace Somerset House, a cultural nexus for the creative arts in London.

The recipients of NEWGEN, sponsored by Topshop are:

Catwalk sponsorship: House of Holland, Mark Fast, Mary Katrantzou, Meadham Kirchhoff and Peter Pilotto.

Presentation sponsorship: Danielle Scutt, Louise Gray, LP.BG and Sykes.

Exhibition sponsorship: Atalanta Weller, Cooperative Designs, Craig Lawrence, Danielle Scutt, Dominic Jones, Fred Butler, House of Holland, KTZ, Louise Gray, LP.BG, Mark Fast, Mary Katrantzou, Michael Lewis, Michael van der Ham, Peter Pilotto and Sykes.

September will see the introduction of a new London Fashion Week presentation schedule in which audiences will be able to view collections in close up. Louise Gray, LP.BG and Sykes – all collections designed by London’s new wave of young female talent – will be showing for the first time on schedule in this way.
