QBE Insurance claims sponsorship of Sale Sharks

Insurance group QBE has announced its sponsorship of rugby premiership champions, Sale Sharks.

The link with the Sale Sharks will see the QBE logo sported on the player’s shorts for the rest of the 2006/07 season. The sponsorship will provide QBE with the opportunity to entertain its key guests and introduce them to rugby heroes like England’s Jason Robinson, Magnus Lund, Mark Cueto, and France’s Sebastien Chabal through corporate hospitality in Sale Sharks’ exclusive Insider Suite in Edgeley Park, Stockport.

QBE clients in other parts of the UK will also get the chance to support the Sharks and be entertained at venues across the country when the Sharks play away from home.

John Neal, Managing Director of QBE Insurance (Europe) comments: "We are very pleased to associate QBE, one of the leading UK commercial insurers, with a dynamic club like Sale Sharks. QBE has long been committed to developing its regional network and we see our support of the Manchester based Sale Sharks as an affirmation of this.”

Sports fans in the southern hemisphere will know QBE through its sponsorship of Jonah Lomu’s former club North Harbour who play in the New Zealand National Provincial Championship as well as its sponsorship of Aussie Rules club Sydney Swans.

Nathan Bombrys, Commercial Manager at Sale Sharks, believes that this partnership with QBE, a global brand and a leader in its field, is testament to the growing appeal of rugby union in the north west. “The ambition at Sale Sharks is to become one of the leading clubs in Europe. The fact that another global company like QBE, who are leaders in their field, have chosen to partner with us is further evidence that the club is continuing to make progress towards our goal. We look forward to a successful partnership with QBE Insurance.”
