LV= announces renewal of its sponsorship of cricket's
County Championship

Insurance and investment group LV= has announced the renewal of its LV= County Championship sponsorship agreement with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). LV= will continue as title sponsors of the competition until 2012.

The announcement comes just as LV=’s eighth season of sponsorship of the oldest competition in domestic cricket gets underway. The leading mutual financial services group first started sponsoring cricket in 2002 under its Frizzell brand name.

Mike Rogers, LV= Group Chief Executive, said: "Our sponsorship of the LV= County Championship has proved very successful in getting our message across to cricket fans far and wide. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with the ECB and our support for the most prestigious domestic cricket competition – the one all the players say they most want to win".

David Collier, ECB Chief Executive, underlined the value of sponsorship to both parties: "I am delighted that LV= has renewed its sponsorship of the LV= County Championship. They have been great supporters of cricket for many years now and this renewal underlines the benefits that sponsorship can bring to commercial partners.

Dramatic

"This announcement is fantastic news for domestic cricket and LV=’s continued support will play a key role in the future success of our national summer sport".

The dramatic conclusion to the 2008 LV= County Championship was one of the closest to date. Durham clinched an exciting victory over Kent in the final round

to take the LV= County Championship Division One honours.

The 2009 LV= County Championship starts on Wednesday, 15th April and runs until Wednesday, 23rd September, with a break during May and early June. The first round of fixtures sees ten teams in action, including newly promoted Warwickshire and Worcestershire, both eager to make their mark in Division One.
