CHILDCARE CENTRE SHOWS THAT GIVING FAMILIES OPPORTUNITIES CAN HAVE ITS BENEFITS

Manor Community Childcare Centre needs sponsors' money to help disadvantaged children and parents in Sheffield.

The centre is a community nursery located in the Manor area of Sheffield. It provides affordable, quality childcare linked to training opportunities for families living in the City of Sheffield.

The children that attend the centre are aged between six months and five years old - it is registered for up to sixty-five children at any one time. The Manor area is an estate in Sheffield that is disadvantaged and where unemployment and crime levels are very high. By providing training/work opportunities linked to quality childcare the centre aims to make a positive, lasting difference and to improve the lives of families in the local community. It also aims to improve educational achievement and health for children, reduce crime and enable parents to study or take up employment.

On the 12th March, 2003, the Office for Standards in Education visited the centre to carry out its periodical inspection of the nursery and deemed the centre to be 'Very Good'. This rating is the highest status OFSTED awards and is based on all areas of activities carried out for the care of children in the centre. The centre's staff and management are very proud of what they have achieved so far and would like to continue their success. For this to happen they need to raise money through donations and, hopefully, sponsorship.

Sponsorship could take the form of sponsoring a childcare place for a disadvantaged child or even through supplying equipment that could benefit the children's play experiences. In return the centre will happily promote the sponsor's business/product on its stationery, its website and on all its publicity leaflets and posters.
