DURHAM AMATEUR ROWING CLUB EMBARK ON COURSE TO ATTRACT SPONSORS
Durham Amateur Rowing Club is one of the most successful rowing clubs in the UK, being able regularly to boast the most wins of any club in open events.

The club is proud of having a broad range of members from international medallists to leisure rowers and catering for beginners of all ages: juniors, seniors, veterans and disabled. The club is recognised as a centre of excellence, pioneering Amateur Rowing Association schemes such as Project Oarsome and World Class Start.

Durham ARC members compete in all major national competitions each year, and the club is the largest club in the north of England. Durham ARC are currently seeking Lottery Funding for a major extension programme to its current facilities, in order to meet the demands made on it from membership. The club is seeking sponsors and donations to help fund this project and the expansion and replacement of its boat fleet.

Current opportunities

Club Sponsor
Sponsors can have their company name and logo on all racing kit, oars, signage, trailers and letterhead.

Boat Sponsorship
£8,000 to £14,000. Company name/logo on boat. Sponsors select the name for the life of the boat and attend a naming ceremony. Boat sponsors have the use of the boathouse/marquee for corporate functions (once at no cost, repeat hire at members' rates) and will receive press coverage.

Event Sponsorship
Durham ARC are responsible for holding three of the largest events in the rowing calendar, set against the backdrop of Durham Cathedral and Castle. These are:

Durham City Regatta
Whole event and individual race sponsors are wanted for this two day event held annually in May. Entries in 2003 surpassed that of its nearest rival, making this the largest event of its kind in the North of England.
Durham Small Boats Head
An event held during February over an 1,800 metre course, with crews rowing against the stream of the river. This is a one day event which has an entry level capped at 400.
Durham Veterans and Juniors Regatta
A one day sprint event held in September over a 500 metre course. The event attracts competitors from around the country and caters solely for veteran and junior rowers.

Durham Allcomers Regatta
A fun event with corporate overtones whereby crews created from beginners are made up from companies, friends and schools. Crews are coached for 4 outings, after which they race on the event day for a prize. This event is designed to promote rowing and teamwork and many adults take up rowing afterwards.

Transport
Durham ARC is situated in the north east of England and has to travel far to events. The club is seeking sponsorship/supply of two towing vehicles to cope with towing large trailers and assist in transporting junior members.
