Christ the King College chalks up opportunities to support its bid for Specialist School status

Christ the King College is the first joint Church of England and Roman Catholic secondary school on the Isle of Wight.

Its current age range is from 9 to 14 (Years 5 to 9), which is expanding to age range 11 to 18 (Years 7 to 13) by 2013; its student roll is currently 924, but this will increase to up to 1,400 students when the full secondary age range is reached.

The College was founded in September 2008, following the successful amalgamation of two previous middle schools. It is now in its second year, having had a very exciting and successful foundation year.

In November 2009, the College had its first Ofsted inspection, which commented on the quite exceptional progress made in such a short period of time and stated that the College has been steered through its first year with impressive coherence and success.

The College is now pursuing plans to become a Specialist School in Mathematics and Computing. As part of the bidding process the College must raise £50,000 in sponsorship.

In return, sponsors will have the opportunity for valuable PR exposure in association with a successful Christian College and its reputation of excellence and high standards, opportunities for staff involvement and professional development, as well as direct involvement in shaping the future of the first Christian High School on the Isle of Wight.
